  • Carlisle Arts and Learning Center (CALC), 38 West Pomfret Street, Carlisle
  • Presenters include Paul Eschbach, MA, BCBA, LBS, and Dr. David Bateman, Shippensburg University
  • Raffle - Win a Coach Wallet: Proceeds will go to the PSEA Special Education Scholarship (part of the PSEA Lucy A. Valero Scholarship Fund)

10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Using ABA to Teach and Manage Problem Behavior
Presenter:  Paul Eschbach, MA BCBA LBS

The objectives of this course are to define applied behavior analysis (ABA), demonstrate the utility of ABA in the treatment of autism, illustrate the three-term contingency of behavior, describe common procedures in ABA, apply ABA procedures to common behavioral goals of children with autism, and achieve competency in foundational knowledge of ABA and its application.

12:30 – 1 p.m. – LUNCH

1 – 2:30 p.m. – Strategies and Tips Relating to Working with Students with Disabilities
Presenter:  Dr. David Bateman, Shippensburg University

This session will teach specific strategies and tips relating to working with students with disabilities. The strategies are to provide support for staff as they lead their schools in providing services for students with disabilities. The strategies and tips relate to including students with disabilities in general education classrooms, providing support for classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, school counselors, and other students in the building. It will also provide specific tips for staff as they use email, lead IEP meetings, and deliver news (both good and bad) to parents about the progress of a student in their school. It will also include specific tips to ensure students eligible for Section 504 accommodation plans are appropriately identified, and services are provided. It will also include information about specific accommodations for specific disabilities to assist teachers when they are leading meetings.
