The North Pocono teachers and students participate in various food drives throughout the school year to support the North Pocono Food Pantry. Today, the North Pocono Education Association (NPEA) donated $3,000 to the pantry.
“The members of the NPEA felt it was really important to try and help our community now more than ever. We asked our members to help the food pantry by donating food or cash donations,” stated Ellen Raguckas, president of the NPEA. “NPEA member and teacher, Joan Thompson, did a great job collecting the donations on behalf of the membership.”
Great work, NPEA!
It has been overwhelming to see the amount of great work our members have been doing to provide food to our children during this time of need. Here is another example of #ServiceAboveSelf and #Solidarity.
The East Stroudsburg ESP members and volunteers of the East Stroudsburg EA have been busy not only preparing breakfast and lunch for their students and community, but also packaging them and delivering the food via bus stops throughout their school district. Yes, you read that correctly. PSEA members are actually utilizing their bus routes to drive and deliver breakfast and lunch packets to the homes of their students via bus stop. Monroe County (home of the East Stroudsburg School District) is on a mandatory stay-at-home order.
Our PSEA members figured out a way, as they always do, to still provide nutrition and a sense of normalcy to our children. Keep up the great work, East Stroudsburg! Thank you for continuing to show your community what PSEA members are truly about...our kids.
The East Stroudsburg Area Education Support Professionals Association (ESAESPA) goal for the 2019-2020 school year was to collect enough non-perishable food donations to be able to keep East Stroudsburg’s four school pantry’s full. The four schools that operate pantries include: JM Hill Elementary, HS South, HS North, and JT Lambert Intermediate.
On March 12, the leadership of the ESAESPA presented the pantry organizers the donations they have collected.
The following PSEA members are members of the Food Collection Committee: Tammy Walsh - Resica Elementary, Ann Marie Kizer - Middle Smithfield Elementary, Donna Noia - Bushkill Elementary, Lorena Rosado - JT Lambert Intermediate, Yyudmila Lia - HS South, Maria Heitz - Smithfield Elementary, and Maureen Barret - Resica Elementary.
Members of the Wayne Highlands Educational Support Personnel Association made a donation to the Wayne County Food Pantry. They partnered with Dave’s Super Duper and purchased $700 worth of canned goods and other assorted non perishables.
“We love our community and are so happy we can help out, especially in this unprecedented time of need,” stated Sally Watson, president of the WHESPA.
