How Do I Explain All that PSEA Is? (EA and ESP Session)

Presenter ---- Eastern Region UniServ:  Corinne Fecho

Offered from 4:30-5:30 p.m. virtually.

At meetings, local leaders tend to only talk about collective bargaining, enforcing the contract, and grievances.  PSEA is so much more than this!  As members of PSEA, do we really truly understand all that PSEA has to offer and the myriad of ways that PSEA is there to help us with our everyday lives?  PSEA offers many opportunities for our members that will help them professionally and personally.  This is also a way to connect with the majority of your members for them to find value in being a part of what is a positive organization.  Connect with and engage more members in your local as you start to begin to understand the benefits of membership that extend beyond Collective Bargaining and the contract.  This session will allow you to leave with a treasure trove of benefits to start to spread throughout your entire membership.

Ugh!  Do you need a leave?  I need a leave! (EA and ESP Session)

Presenter ------ Eastern Region UniServ:  Corinne Fecho

Offered from 4:30-5:30 p.m. virtually.

In the past two years, we have more and more people requesting leaves due their own situation or due to a family member’s health.  We also have more people that are exhausting the normal contractual benefits of sick days and having to consider other options.  This session will focus on all different ways to take a leave using contractual benefits that exist in collective bargaining contracts, school code, or provided through law.  In addition, suggestions will be made about language enhancements to consider bargaining in the near future to help people that are facing difficult decisions for their family.  This session is great if you are looking to have a member be more versed on leaves in order to help other members of the bargaining unit when navigating what was told to them by the Business Office.  The overall intent is to make sure that people are able to maximize any options available to them.

Assembling Your Dream Team (ESP Only Session)

Presenter ------ Eastern Region Advocacy Coordinator: Tiffany Dollar

Offered from 4:30-6:30 p.m. virtually.

Your workplace may feel like an unorganized mess, but the truth is you’re not starting from zero. There’s organization there already—though it might have nothing to do with the union. Learn how to map out the existing networks in your school site, identify the leaders in those networks, and then knit them together into an organizing committee.
