HARRISBURG (Jan. 15, 2019) – The president of Pennsylvania’s largest school employees’ union congratulated Gov. Tom Wolf today as he was sworn into his second term in office.
“From day one, Gov. Tom Wolf has partnered with educators from across Pennsylvania to make public education a top priority,” said PSEA President Rich Askey. “We look forward to continuing the work we started and ensuring every student in Pennsylvania gets a high-quality education.
“Gov. Wolf believes in public education and wants to make sure our public schools have the resources they need to give every student a great education. Pennsylvanians are with him — and so is PSEA.
“On behalf of the 181,000 educators I represent as PSEA’s president, I want to congratulate Tom Wolf and pledge to continue to work with him and his administration to make Pennsylvania’s public schools the very best that they can be.”
Askey is a music teacher in the Harrisburg School District and president of PSEA. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents approximately 181,000 active and retired educators and school employees, student teachers, higher education staff, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
