HARRISBURG, PA (Sept. 26, 2024) – The Pennsylvania State Education Association is recommending Eugene DePasquale in the election for Pennsylvania attorney general.

PSEA President Aaron Chapin said the decision to recommend DePasquale, who previously served two terms as the state’s auditor general and as a state House representative from York, was led by rank-and-file PSEA members who met with and interviewed the candidate.

“PSEA’s recommendation of Eugene DePasquale is based on his strong belief that our public schools are essential to providing opportunities for the people of Pennsylvania,” Chapin said. “Eugene will work to hold state government and school districts accountable so that every Pennsylvania student gets an equal opportunity at a quality education.

As auditor general, Eugene worked closely with Gov. Tom Wolf and other elected leaders on the Pennsylvania School Safety Task Force to put new measures in place to foster safe learning and working environments in our schools. We have no doubt he will continue that commitment to school safety as attorney general.

“Additionally, Eugene has stated unequivocally that he supports adequately funding our public schools and opposes the diversion of taxpayer dollars to private school tuition scholarships.

“I can say this for certain: there is no better person to serve as our attorney general, safeguarding our rights and standing up for our public schools, our students, and our educators. That is why PSEA is proud to recommend Eugene DePasquale to be Pennsylvania’s next attorney general.”

Chapin is a Stroudsburg Area middle school teacher and president of PSEA. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents about 177,000 active and retired educators and school employees, aspiring educators, higher education staff, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
