Duquesne ESP saves choking student

Since 2005, PSEA has presented Celebrating Excellence Awards to recognize individuals, local associations, and organizations that go the extra mile for public schools and communities.

Sen. Jay Costa, Adler Friend of Education Award. Representing the 43rd Senatorial District in and around Pittsburgh since 1996, Costa has worked tirelessly to support, fund, and promote public education.

Maeve Yanes, Human and Civil Rights – Student Leader. A ninth-grader at Emmaus High School in the East Penn School District and a member of the United Way TeenWorks, Yanes has created and expanded several Free Libraries in and around Allentown.

Gisele Fetterman, Human and Civil Rights – Community Leader. Fetterman, the Second Lady of Pennsylvania, is a strong advocate for the poor and immigrants, as well as for women, girls, and the LGBTQ+ community.

TeenWorks, Human and Civil Rights – Community Leader. A partner with the Lehigh Valley United Way, TeenWorks was formed in 1999 and has funded more than 500 teen-led projects.
