Wilkes-Barre EA turns spotlight on students, community

Voice: September 2017

Even when it was Wilkes-Barre EA members’ moment in the spotlight, their focus was on students and the community.

Educators were recognized at the EA’s 31st annual dinner this spring, but highlights also included a total of $10,500 in Leadership Student Scholarships presented to three graduating seniors. The EA also presented a $2,500 check to the “WVAA-Moses Classic” basketball game played each year to raise money for many local charities.

“I’m always inspired by our members’ heartwarming commitment to help our students outside the classrooms and by always giving back to the community,” said Jeff Ney, then EA president who is now PSEA treasurer. “For 31 years, this has been a strong tradition for us.”
