One of the highlights of American Education Week is Education Support Professionals Day.
The PSEA House of Delegates voted last December to change the name of its top annual ESP honor to the Dolores McCracken PSEA ESP Member of the Year Award.
McCracken, a paraprofessional in the Council Rock School District, Bucks County, passed away last November.
She was the first education support professional to serve as a statewide officer.
The recipient of this year’s award will be announced on National ESP Day on Nov. 20.
“Dolores blazed a historic trail for ESPs as part of the tremendous overall legacy she left with PSEA,’’ said PSEA ESP President Dawn Bandle. “It was only fitting to rename the annual award in her honor.’’
