Nurses get much deserved recognition May 6-12 is National Nurses Week, an observance that recognizes two groups of PSEA members.

Nurses who are part of HealthCare-PSEA are honored on National Nurses Day on May 6, and National School Nurse Day is May 8. National School Nurse Day is set aside each year by the National Association of School Nurses to recognize the critical role nurses play in aiding students with chronic and acute health conditions, providing health education, and sometimes being first responders in emergency situations.

“These PSEA members play vital roles in medical facilities and schools throughout the state,’’ said PSEA Vice President Korri Brown. “Medical facilities simply could not function without the quality care that nurses provide to adults and children. In schools, good health plays a vital role in a child’s ability to learn, and our school nurses do great work in helping students maintain good health and in caring for their needs on a daily basis.’’
