Happy Holidays, Student PSEA!

As you finish up finals for the fall semester, take pride and recognize the impact you are making as future educators. We wish you all the happiest of holidays this season and hope you enjoy your winter break!

Pennsylvania has a drastic substitute teacher shortage. You can help.

Winter break is a great time to gain hands-on experience in the classroom. Did you know that if you are currently enrolled in a Pennsylvania teacher preparation program you can serve as a substitute? You must have completed a minimum of 60 credits or equivalent and be enrolled in a Pennsylvania college or university teacher preparation program. You will be able to substitute teach for up to 10 days for a single employee and for a maximum of 20 days per school year in total.

Find your local school district for more information at the link below. www.psea.org/subswanted

Webinars, Events, and Other Chapter Happenings

Mansfield University (pictured below), California University of Pennsylvania, and Lock Haven University’s chapters learned about “Critical Race Theory, Multiculturalism, Social Justice, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and Social Justice for Equity in Schools Today” with Dr. Chris Clayton. They discussed differences between multiculturalism, critical race theory, and social justice, and explored how educators can begin to implement and actualize a platform of multicultural curricula, culturally responsive pedagogy, and social justice practices within the classroom to work toward fostering increased equity for all students.

University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg’s chapter hosted virtual GRAMAE Awards recognizing our members’ excellence.
