We must move forward with elections to ensure our amazing Student PSEA members can step up and keep our program strong for years to come. Please note that if you are interested in any position you will nominate yourself via Google form. Below is an elections update that provides details on how we will conduct elections. Elections update - NEA AEC/ RACancellation of the 2020 Student PSEA convention and House of Delegates impacted three procedures that usually occur at the conference:
Due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the 2020 Student PSEA State Conference and Convention, the nominations and elections described above could not proceed as scheduled. The Student PSEA Executive Board sought guidance from PSEA’s legal division to ensure that we comply with our constitution and bylaws in conducting remote elections and/or otherwise filling vacancies.
Student state officer elections
**Note that the position of president-elect will not be filled by appointment of the Executive Board. Rather, according to the constitution and bylaws, the president-elect position will remain vacant until the Spring 2021 annual convention, at which time an election will be held to fill the position for the remainder of the term ending Aug. 31, 2021. The successful candidate will automatically become president effective Sept. 1, 2021 for the term ending Aug. 31, 2022. If you had an interest in running for president-elect this year and serving as president starting in Sept. 2021 we encourage you to run for vice president, secretary, or region president. We will begin the election procedure for region officers after April 19, 2020. This allows anyone who was interested in a state officer position but not appointed by the Executive Board to consider if they would like to run for a region position. After April 19, 2020, you will receive an email from your region president beginning the election procedure for region positions. We will take nominations for region positions via Google Form. After the nominations have been received, there will be an election held in the coming weeks via email. Members will receive an emailed ballot specific to their region, and members will only vote for the region officers in their specific region. |
