Congratulations to 2024 PA School Counselor of the Year, Adam Oldham

Big Spring High School counselor Adam Oldham has been named Pennsylvania School Counselor of the Year. He accepted the award on Dec. 12 at the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association’s annual conference in Hershey, where he was recognized by Gov. Josh Shapiro.

Oldham’s career includes roles as a drug and alcohol counselor and counseling positions at Mechanicsburg Middle School and East Pennsboro Area High School. He completed his school counseling internship at Big Spring in 2012 and joined the district as a school counselor in 2021, where he works alongside his wife, Ashley Oldham, who has been a teacher at Big Spring since 2008.

In addition to his work at Big Spring, Oldham has been a statewide advocate for student services. He has served on the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association Board since 2017 and founded the Pennsylvania Coalition of Student Services Associations in 2023. He has also testified before the state Legislature to support school counseling programs.

Oldham has been nominated six times for this award. Congratulations on your win, Adam!
