HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania State Education Association will host a press conference with educators at the state Capitol on June 18 to discuss key issues facing public education, including school funding, school safety, a growing teacher shortage, and the need for more school nurses, psychologists, and other specialists.

Speakers will discuss the importance of investing in public education, strategies for making our schools safer, how best to address a growing teacher shortage in Pennsylvania, and legislation that will ensure students have greater access to school counselors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers at school.
Speakers will also highlight the findings of a poll from Terry Madonna Opinion Research finding that nearly two-thirds of registered Pennsylvania voters expressed satisfaction with the public schools in their communities and more than seven in 10 have positive impressions of teachers.
An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents about 181,000 active and retired educators and school employees, student teachers, higher education staff, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
