Gettysburg Summer Leadership Conference “Night at the Races” event

Get ready for a fun-filled night where Gettysburg Summer Leadership Conference attendees can “wager” on horse races, win prizes, and raise money for pro-public education candidates through PSEA-PACE. 

On Wed., July 24, during our Night at the Races event, members will have a chance to “wager” on real, previously recorded horse races that have been repurposed with new member-sponsored race names and member-selected horse names. This fun event will include the chance to win giveaway baskets and to bid on cool auction items in between races. 

What: Night at the Races PACE fundraiser event 
When: Wed., July 24, from 6:30-9 p.m. 
Where: CUB Ballroom at Gettysburg College

At the event

During the Night at the Races on July 24, it’ll operate kinda like a real racetrack, only the proceeds all go to PSEA-PACE. Here’s what It’ll look like onsite: 

  1. Place your “betting money” wager at the window on your favorite horse in one of five races. (Winning odds will be calculated for each horse.) 
  2. Collect your “winnings” in the form of tokens, paid out based on calculated odds for that horse that will be announced before each race. 
  3. Individuals with the first, second, and third highest number of tokens at the end of the night will be crowned the Win, Place, or Show “jockey” of the evening and receive fun gifts. 

A few more things 

  • All participants will receive two tickets  AND two “betting money” dollars upon entry. The tickets will be for the giveaway outlined below.
  • Members can get more “betting money” dollars and tickets for giveaway baskets by contributing (real money) to PACE (all dollar amounts halved for ESP, Retired, and Student members): 
    • $10 = 3 “betting money” dollars and 2 tickets 
    • $20 = 8 “betting money” dollars and 5 tickets 
    • $30 = 15 “betting money” dollars and 11 tickets 
    • $40 = 25 “betting money” dollars and 23 tickets 
    • $50 = 40 “betting money” dollars and 50 tickets 

Raffle Giveaway 

  • Participants will deposit tickets in a giveaway basket and retain their stub for reference. 
  • Winners will be pulled at the conclusion of the fifth race. - must be present to win!

Contributions to PSEA-PACE are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal or state income tax purposes. Only U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents may contribute to PACE. No dues dollars can be given to political candidates.
