HARRISBURG, PA (Jan. 5, 2024) – The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) congratulates Ashlie Crosson, a Mifflin County High School English teacher and a member of the Association of Mifflin County Educators, who was named the 2024 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year in December.
As a teacher of English, Journalism, and AP Language, Crosson strives to engage students intellectually and creatively while ensuring they are prepared for college and career. She is also a strong advocate for independent reading, helping her school to build classroom libraries with diverse books for young adult readers.
Crosson approaches instruction with the goal of helping her students develop their global competencies. She believes that in order to truly prepare students for the world of tomorrow, it is necessary to teach them how to communicate, collaborate, and innovate across borders.
“PSEA congratulates Ashlie Crosson, along with the 11 other exceptional educators named Teacher of the Year finalists,” said PSEA President Aaron Chapin. “Ashlie works hard every day to nurture in her students a love for learning. As Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the Year, Crosson will meet and collaborate with other educators and represent the commonwealth in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
Chapin is a Stroudsburg Area middle school teacher and president of PSEA. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents about 177,000 active and retired educators and school employees, student teachers, higher education staff, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
