Mike Hricik Named 2024 James Davenport Award Winner
On Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the NEA Higher Ed Conference in Atlanta, Mike Hricik, Westmoreland County Community College Professional Association (WCCC PA), PSEA/NEA member and local association President, was named the NCHE James Davenport Memorial Award winner. The award is for union advocacy.

NCHE is the Higher Ed Arm of NEA. James Davenport was the first President of NCHE.
Mike is the first Higher Ed member from Pennsylvania to have won this award and the award puts us in the national spotlight.
Mike states, "... I wake up every morning ready to do my job in teaching at WCCC and in being a union advocate. I don't ever want people to think that being mild mannered and low key does not mean that I am not passionate about my work. Due to PSEA Government Relations 1 School, I have learned to be triple prepared. I feel like I'm the best prepared person in the room. I don't have to refer to notes, since I know the topic really well."
Mike also spoke at the NCHE Meeting and said, "As a State HE (Higher Ed) President, NEA has helped us in many ways." Mike cited how the NEA really helped PSEA at Harrisburg Area Community College to organize the local and to send on ground organizers.
As he considered the events of the weekend, Mike thought: "I have been trained, mentored, and educated by the best State Public Education Union in the country. PSEA does it really well and I have personally and professionally benefited from this."

Meetings will be held at Bella Terra Vineyard, 121 Sunny Lane, Hunker, PA 15639. Online registration is required. Dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. promptly.

Your access carried over on September 1 (as long as you remained president). After September 1, your designees from the prior year were deleted and you need to log in to Local Leader Tools to set up your designee(s) for the current membership year.
