A weird, wonderful time to celebrate American Education Week

This has truly been an American Education Week like no other. While it may seem like there’s less to celebrate with so much uncertainty and stress going around, I would say the opposite is true. There’s never been a more appropriate time to shine a proud light on what you do.

The true test of an educator is how far they’re willing to go for their students. And to say you’ve gone the extra mile during this pandemic is a major understatement.

Of course, a big part of our job at PSEA is to remind everyone else in your communities what a valuable roll you play, and how many amazing things you’re doing for students.

For this AEW I wrote letters to the editor about this week that were published in 11 separate news outlets. We helped PA 2020 Teacher of the Year Joe Welch publish four op-eds. We ran statewide digital media campaigns, posted videos and member quotes across our social media platforms, and otherwise left no stone unturned to get the word out about how incredible our members have been this year.

Not aside from the added challenges, but because of them.

You can find links to the outreach mentioned above plus more about American Education Week at this link. Before you go, here’s one of the videos I put out as a token of my appreciation:
